Bushra Ali Solicitors are very pleased to announce that Bushra Ali has now taken office as the President of the Leicestershire Law Society, a post which she will hold for the next 12 months.
Bushra has big plans for the year and wishes to focus on supporting the wider community outside of legal services, and celebrating Leicester and the county’s rich diversity.
Bushra said: “Some of my objectives include having a community focus for the year. Having lived in five different cities before settling here, I feel that Leicestershire needs to be applauded for its cultural diversity both in the legal and other professions as well as throughout the community.
“There is a real sense of cohesion and togetherness in Leicestershire. We have high achieving women in Leicestershire and need to celebrate not only their success but also their resilience.”
The firm are very excited about what Bushra plans to do with her year in office, and look forward to the events which she has planned. These include; summer drinks with dignitaries and the business community, a dinner celebrating diversity in the community, a summer fete, Leicestershire’s Got talent, an event to celebrate the newly qualified legal professionals in Leicestershire and our annual awards dinner. It will be a very busy year but Bushra says that she is looking forward to the challenge!
We are also very lucky that Leicestershire will be this years’ host for the annual national conference for the first time. Bushra sees this as an opportunity to raise the profile of the local law society and Leicester as a City. Bushra said; “Legal professionals from places including London, Devon, Somerset, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and Wales are expected to travel to Leicester for this conference.”
As well as celebrating what the people of Leicestershire have achieved, the year will be spent raising money for Bushra’s two chosen charities; the Zinthiya Trust and After18. The Zinthiya Trust supports women and families from disadvantaged backgrounds, such as those who have been subject to domestic violence and After18 assist unaccompanied young people in Leicester, supporting them in their transition to adulthood. Several events of those which Bushra has planned will be dedicated to raising money for both of these very worthy, local causes.
Speaking of her inauguration, Bushra said; “As the second Asian female president I feel it is an absolute honour to be given this opportunity to serve the society.”
Naturally, we celebrated with Cake!
